We get asked this a lot : Do moms really need a planner just for them?

Yes, they do, because a mom’s day is unlike anyone else’s.

When we’re working as much as 2.5 people on any given day, getting through it takes precedence over everything else.

But even after demolishing our task list, why do we feel exhausted and drained, and not fulfilled and energized?

It could be because, as Maria Popova says, “The cult of productivity has its place, but worshiping at its altar daily robs us of the very capacity for joy and wonder that makes life worth living.”

Productivity is a necessity for many of us, and our schedules may not be flexible enough to move things around or slow down. But we can still find joy in the everyday.

The secret of success is .. to be fully awake to everything about you. – LeRoy Pollock, father of Jackson Pollock

As moms, we spend so much of our time and energy meeting others’ needs, that we’re rarely, if at all, left with any time for ourselves.

MAMMA-MIYA exists to help busy moms thrive and be productive, but to also help them find mindfulness in their moments, and bring intention to their lives.

You can be productive and fulfilled.

One way to make our days meaningful is to find pockets of time during the day to do what we love, even if it’s for a few minutes.

So if you love to read but haven’t done it for a while, schedule 10 minutes of reading before bed, or during lunch.

If you love to hike but haven’t done so in years, start small with a short hike with the kids on a weekend, or if you can, plan a longer getaway with your partner or with friends.

Here are 3 features in the app that can help you choose to spend your time and energy mindfully:

1. Add and sync all your calendars

Combine your personal and work schedules, workouts, period dates, reminder apps, activity trackers, meal plans, care routines, volunteering, grocery lists, school pickups, homework time, play dates, everything, into the app.

Compared to other planners, MAMMA-MIYA encourages you to input a lot more of your schedule.

This way you can get a bird’s eye view of your whole life, as it is, without switching between apps, notes and pieces of paper or carrying their mental load in your head.

2. Prioritize your tasks

In every time-rushed, overworked mom’s life, to-dos are like the drops of water that look really tiny and harmless by themselves, but combine over the course of the day to become a rocky, endless ocean.

In the app, work is divided into 3 types: events, routines and tasks.

An event is anything that is time bound.

Routines are what you do every day or at a fixed frequency.

Tasks are to-dos that you can add to different parts of a day. If you have more than 3 tasks planned for a day, the app prompts you to pick the Top 3 for the day.

By prioritizing, you’re choosing to use your time and energy wisely.

3. Tweak your schedule with our insights

The home screen shows you how much time you’re spending on each of your Hats, and how busy you are at different times of the day.

We are women first, and then mothers, wives, daughters, sisters. In an ideal world, nothing should matter more than our well-being. In the real world, other priorities have pushed their way to the front, but we can still find a way to put ourselves first.

Presence is far more intricate and rewarding an art than productivity. Ours is a culture that measures our worth as human beings by our efficiency, our earnings, our ability to perform this or that. The cult of productivity has its place, but worshiping at its altar daily robs us of the very capacity for joy and wonder that makes life worth living — for, as Annie Dillard memorably put it, “how we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.”  – Maria Popova, themarginalian
