At MAMMA-MIYA, we care about you as much as your productivity for two reasons.

First, when you take time for yourself, you also become more productive.

Second, as moms, we are working harder than ever, and we’re also more exhausted than ever.

We understand the bone-deep need for a break and a breath, everyday. MAMMA-MIYA was built to give you this, too.

Here are 4 questions moms starting out with MAMMA-MIYA have:

1. Why should I tag every task with a Hat?

When you tag a task to one of your Hats, you are choosing to spend your time and energy on that role or relationship in your life.

The idea is to spend some time on each of your Hats, and nurture every part of you.

You can also use Hats to prioritize what you want to do in a day.

For example, if you feel that you’re taking care of your body (by eating and sleeping well, and working out regularly) but not doing enough to train your mind or tend to your soul, you can make a Hat for each of them.

Power Tip 1: Rachel, one of our top supporters, says in her story that she’s someone everyone comes to talk to, and asks for help. While she enjoys that, she also ends up taking on more than she should. To reduce this, she created a Personal Assistant (PA) Hat. Her goal is to bring the number of tasks assigned to the PA Hat down.

2. Why is My Day split into 5 parts?

Seeing the day as 5 parts rather than as one block of 24 hours can make your time feel manageable. We’ve further split 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. into 4-hour sections to help you organize everything without feeling overwhelmed.

Working with one part of a day at a time is also useful to make a realistic plan, because it ensures that you don’t overload it.

Power Tip 2: One of our moms told us that after splitting tasks across the working parts of her day – morning, afternoon and parts of evening – she realized that she was at her most productive in the mornings. So she started assigning her most challenging work, and important tasks that tend to get pushed to later, to the morning.

3. Why do you talk about the Brain Dump so much?

Most of us don’t realize how much mental weight is involved in anticipating others’ needs, until we clear it.

The Brain Dump is the place you can dump everything in your head, to deal with, later.

We can’t stop talking enough about it because it’s a feature that was built to lighten this invisible load, and we’re grateful everyday that moms agree

4. Why do you have a Gratitude Journal in the app?

Gratitude is the secret ingredient of well-being.

In the relentless run of maxing our days out productivity-wise, we rarely pause for a breath, or to see how far we have come.

The Gratitude Journal is a place for you to take a minute (or three) to acknowledge your achievements and feel thankful for everything good in your life right now. It’s unbelievable how it can expand our perspective on almost anything.

By celebrating one thing everyday with a journal entry, even if it is a task you completed, you’re recording  good memories. Even if you don’t look back at it later, this is a small way to thank yourself.
